A Letter from George Clarke on MEB’s 40 Year Anniversary

As MEB celebrates its 40th year in business, there is a story of consistent growth and achievement paving the way to where we are today.

40 years in business is a reason to both celebrate and reflect. Our company began modestly in 1982 and has experienced consistent and steady growth for four decades. It is a testament to the many dedicated, hardworking employees that have lifted MEB up throughout the years. The loyalty to MEB is one of our proudest accomplishments; 23 of our first 40 employees are still with us! As we experience growth year over year, we continue to put an emphasis on our people, our brand, and our facilities.

Over the last few years, we rebranded, developed a comprehensive community outreach program, updated and expanded our headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia, as well as invested in modern field equipment. All of these efforts are to keep MEB at the forefront of the industry and support the continued steady growth we are experiencing.

Our projects have also changed and grown over the last 40 years; we now specialize in six very diverse market segments—more than we ever thought possible. In 1982, one of our first projects was installing wheel blocks in parking lots; now, we’re winning and successfully completing projects more than $200 million. We are proud to continue to invest in our team and the partnerships that make MEB successful.

We recently identified the MEB Core Values: Family by Choice, Clients First, Safety Matters. We felt it was important to ensure we didn’t lose sight of what makes MEB so special. We firmly believe these statements hold true to how we treat each other in the workplace, our clients, and our dedication to getting every team member home safely.

Our commitment also lies within the communities where we live, work, and play. We have expanded our volunteer program and are making efforts to touch not only our environments but also the people in those communities. From shoreline cleanups and coastal preservation projects to industry-specific training for younger generations, we will always remain committed to doing our part for the communities that support us.

We would not be here celebrating this huge milestone without the dedication and enthusiasm from each of our team members. We want to thank every one of them and all our business partners for a successful 40 years! We look forward to making the next 40 and beyond even better.
