Our team is looking for an experienced superintendent to coordinate and manage on-site activities of our construction projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. As the “Face” of MEB on the project site, you will ensure delivery of successful projects to owners, in the safest manner possible, on time and on budget with the desired level of quality. This role requires excellent communication skills, as you’ll collaborate with various project stakeholders, including Project Managers, Project Engineers, foreman, and Field Personnel. To succeed, you must ensure MEB’s core values are being lived on the project every day and that quality, health, and safety standards onsite are your top priority.

core areas of responsibility.

  • Develop schedule(s) for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
  • Track and control construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and budget.
  • Complete a daily construction log report for work completed, manpower onsite, change issues, conflicts, production, weather, etc.
  • Work with PM to make schedule/operational changes to meet deadlines, increase efficiencies, and meet budgets.
  • Oversee the proper administration of construction subcontracts.
  • Ensure that all material delivered to jobsites is inventoried, defect free, and matches the material order.
  • Supervise/coordinate/schedule all manpower and equipment involved with project.
  • Identify issues, track progress, analyze manpower, evaluate material status, and confirm safe work practices are followed.
  • Assist other Superintendents, Utility Superintendents, Mechanical Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents with planning work and critical decision making associated with activities.
  • Conduct preconstruction planning and meetings with subcontractors and crews to define quality standards, material requirements, scheduling, inspections, and safe work planning.
  • Coordinate all site activities to ensure a logical sequence is followed that avoids logistical conflicts between various work activities.
  • Work with the Project Manager to determine the most cost-effective equipment and manpower/crew plan to ensure cost effective use of resources.
  • Oversee performance of all crews and trade contractors to guarantee that all project requirements and regulations are being followed.
  • Manage MEB’s self-performed work including sheeting/shoring of excavations, pile driving, underground utilities, cast-in-place concrete, structural/miscellaneous steel, process equipment, and piping systems.
  • Provide work progress quantities / percentage updates to the project manager for incorporation of job projection updates.
  • Understand, review, and manage project plans, specifications, shop drawings and manufacturer’s data to complete quality work based upon said documentation.
  • Ensure the overall safe production of the jobsite for MEB employees, subcontract personnel, visitors and the public as well as identify and/or correct non-compliant safety, health or environmental requirements, conditions, or behaviors.

skills you possess.

  • Previous experience as a construction superintendent or in a similar role
  • 10+ years of construction experience with water/wastewater treatment construction and/or heavy industrial construction
  • Technical knowledge associated with aboveground and underground piping systems, cast-in-place concrete, process/industrial equipment, sitework, and other miscellaneous building features.
  • Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
  • In-depth understanding of construction cost management
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Primavera P6, and financial software
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire
