Project Details

The Marine Animal Care Center (MACC) is an 18,000 square-foot one-story building that will replace an aging off-site facility that provides operational support for the Aquarium. The new facility will provide seawater access; animal care areas to support acquisitions/quarantine; educational outreach and stranded mammals rehabilitation; support areas for stranding response and research; and office/technical spaces for staff and volunteers. The building will be Type IIB construction of mixed-use occupancy. The structure will be steel-framed, partially pre-engineered, with CMU and metal stud walls. The building is designed and constructed to meet LEED Certified accreditation.
