2025 Intern Capstone Highlight

We wrapped up the 2025 Capstone Tours, where interns from across all different job sites had the chance to showcase everything they’ve learned, worked on, and contributed over the past few months.

Each summer at MEB, our internship program offers a front-row seat to the fast-paced world of construction. The capstone presentations give interns the opportunity to walk their peers, leadership, and staff through the projects they’ve been part of, diving into the project’s history, purpose, progress, and the roles they’ve played. From sharing lessons learned to reflecting on key takeaways, the capstones serve as a full-circle moment that highlights personal growth and the impact of their work.

But the tours aren’t just valuable for those attending. Jacob Rivers, who spent the summer working on the USACE Great Falls Air National Guard POL Complex from our corporate headquarters in Chesapeake, reflected on how preparing for his capstone helped him too, “To explain the project to other people, I needed to have a more detailed and complete understanding, which in turn greatly benefited my own knowledge.”

This year’s tours spanned a wide variety of active job sites and project types, from water/wastewater, hospitality/sports/entertainment, fueling, and more. Interns had the opportunity to visit other projects beyond their own, gaining exposure to MEB’s broad capabilities and the many ways we build across different markets.

Jen Hadac, MEB’s talent engagement manager, said, “The Capstone Projects are more than just presentations. They serve as a target milestone that encourages each intern to step back from their daily responsibilities and truly understand the bigger picture of the project or department they have been a part of. It challenges them to reflect on their experience, recognize how their efforts tie into the overall goals, and communicate that in a meaningful way.” Jen continued, “For me, the best part of the Capstones is seeing how much confidence the interns have gained and how they are now able to demonstrate real world experience that truly strengthens their educational foundation. I lost count of how many times I heard, ‘I had no idea how much I would learn during this internship.’ That is what makes it all worth it.”

We’re proud of all our 2025 interns and thank them for the energy and curiosity they brought to MEB this summer. We’re excited to see what’s next for each of them as they take the experience they gained here into the future.
