The project included the construction of a Yacht Service Facility and a separate Dry Storage Facility for the new Ocean Marine Marina on the Portsmouth waterfront. These two facilities were designed to bring additional visitors to downtown via the waterway. The boatel is the only full service dry storage facility in Norfolk and Portsmouth, and also features 36 transient slips. It provides an alternative to Waterside Marina for those boaters traveling the Intercoastal Waterway as well as state of the art repair and maintenance. The yacht service building is a pre-engineered metal building measuring 140 ft by 240 ft with a vertical clearance of 80 ft, and features an 80- ton Travel-lift, 1,250-ton Synchro-lift, and a rail transfer system. The facility has a water reclamation system so no solvents or pollutants will flow into the river and make their way into the Chesapeake Bay or the ocean. The Dry Boat Storage Facility is a 46,480 SF pre-engineered metal building measuring 280 ft wide by 166 ft long with a 50 ft eave height. The boatel can accommodate as many as 320 boats, including boats up to 40 feet in length.
