Cleaner Environments //
clean the bay day
Last year, we had two teams participating in Clean the Bay Day! Our Richmond team was at Powhatan State Park and our Virginia Beach team was at Chippokes State Park cleaning up the waterways and surrounding areas to promote a cleaner and healthier bay. We look forward to participating in Clean the Bay Day again this year!
keep norfolk beautiful
Our Ohio Creek project team, in coordination with the City of Norfolk, did an extensive trash clean up around the job site. We collected over 800 pounds of trash! Read more about the event here.
Waterways //
askHRgreen scoop the poop pledge
Incorporating two things we love, dogs and clean waterways, we asked our team to take the Scoop the Poop Pledge! When they did, each of their dogs received an MEB dog bandana and waste bags/holder. Cleaning up after your dog protects from harmful bacteria getting into our water!
adopt-a-drain
We adopted a drain in a local Virginia Beach neighborhood. The simple act of pledging to clear debris from around the drain multiple times a year keeps harmful pollutants out of our waterways.
oyster restoration efforts
A mature oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water a day! We partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to volunteer with this oyster restoration program in Virginia Beach! Read more about the experience here.
Other Efforts //
beach restoration fencing
Protecting animal habitats is enormous in helping keep populations high and growing. With Virginia Beach Parks and Rec, we installed temporary fencing to help protect the Diamondback Terrapin turtles that hatch and make their way to the water at Pleasure House Point!
40 trees for 40 years
In 2022, MEB celebrated 40 years in business. In direct response to our commitment to making a positive impact, we wanted to create a lasting impact for years to come. Between our two locations, we donated 40 trees in areas that needed new growth. In Chesapeake, we physically planted 20 trees in a nearby park!
