MEB is proud to partner with Charlotte Water as the design-builder for the new McAlpine Creek Nutrient Harvesting Facility in Pineville, North Carolina.
This progressive design-build project represents a forward-thinking step toward sustainable wastewater treatment and environmental stewardship. The facility will recover phosphorus from treated effluent—enhancing discharge quality, reducing chemical use, and supporting the beneficial reuse of struvite byproduct as fertilizer. By capturing phosphorus in solid form, the project will help mitigate scaling in downstream systems, reduce chemical consumption, and lower operational costs associated with sludge handling and treatment.
Scope of work includes site development, civil infrastructure, a pre-engineered metal process building, and installation of specialized process equipment—all fully integrated into the existing plant.
