MEB is modernizing the City of Richmond’s Thickening and Dewatering facilities to support dependable wastewater treatment for the community. Upgrades include new equipment, systems, and temporary operations to ensure uninterrupted service while the facilities are improved for long-term performance.

Project Details

Major upgrades to the 50-year-old Thickening Building and Dewatering Building at the City of Richmond Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The work includes replacement and installation of centrifuges, pumps, conveyors, polymer systems, electrical systems, instrumentation and controls, HVAC equipment, plumbing, and architectural elements. Additional work includes site improvements for drainage and new access roads, construction of a new masonry building, a new metal building, and a new large outdoor enclosure. Temporary facilities and equipment are being installed to maintain continuous WWTP operations throughout construction
