MEB Supports Students in Creating Carrsville Elementary’s New Basketball Court and Improved Baseball Field!

We’re excited to share that the NNSY P678 project volunteered their time and effort to help construct a new outdoor basketball court and improved baseball field for Carrsville Elementary School!

This initiative was spearheaded by four boys from the school—Nathan Curle, John “JR” Butler, Carter Landes, and Alan “AJ” Newberry—whose dedication and hard work have inspired the community. These young leaders proposed the idea to the school board, conducted thorough research, and raised funds to turn their dream for the school into a reality for future generations of Carrsville students.

“I first heard about the project idea while out to dinner one night. The four boys—Carter, Nathan, JR, and AJ—had partnered with Carrsville Elementary and a local restaurant to raise money for the project. What really impressed me was how these young students not only came up with the idea but also created a proposal and presented it to the school board. That level of initiative at such a young age is remarkable. It was a fun project for everyone involved, and seeing the boys getting their hands dirty to make their dream a reality was incredibly fulfilling.” Drew Holt // MEB Project Superintendent

We broke ground on this exciting community project on Tuesday, July 30th. The groundbreaking symbolized the start of the project and highlighted the collective efforts of the students and volunteers.

“As a leader and administrator, my role is not only to support staff but also to foster student growth. The proposal for the basketball court, which began with an email from one of the students, has become a reality thanks to the collaborative efforts of the school, community, and MEB. This project is a testament to how student-led initiatives can achieve great results when supported by dedicated partners.” // Tara Outland, Carrsville Elementary School Principal

The ribbon-cutting event on Thursday, August 15th was a fun and celebratory conclusion to the project, bringing together students, parents, faculty, and community members to mark this special achievement.
