Internal Floating Roof System for Aviation Fueling Projects

PETREX’s internal floating roof system on MEB Fueling Projects.

The internal floating roof system PETREX provides for our aviation fueling projects is a modular honeycomb panel system that provides a full-contact vapor seal as it floats on top of the jet fuel in the storage tank. The floating pan system has a double wiper seal that contacts the interior walls of the tank to prevent vapors from circumventing the pan as the fuel level fluctuates.

The aluminum construction provides a non-combustible full-contact system that eliminates any voids that could facilitate fuel evaporation or create dangerous fuel vapor, which can present safety hazards and cause the harmful release of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere.

Our team is also installing a PETREX floating suction on one of our new projects for a private client. This approach is different from government projects.  This 24” floating suction maintains position just under the floating pan to pull fuel out of the tank at the top of the fuel instead of the bottom where potential contaminates could potentially exist.

The internal floating pan system is vital to ensuring that storage tanks meet US Federal, State, and Local air quality regulations.
