John Thornton Promoted to Project Executive

Please join us in congratulating John on this well-deserved promotion to Project Executive!

John joined MEB in 2009 as a summer intern, returning in 2010 as a full-time Project Engineer. Over the past 15+ years, he has grown with the company, taking on greater responsibilities and contributing significantly to MEB’s continued work and impact across the Richmond region. Since becoming a Project Manager in 2016, he has consistently overseen multiple projects simultaneously, delivering each one on time and within budget.

Don Wade, Vice President of the Richmond Division, shared, “Not only can John manage multiple projects, superintendents, project engineers and project managers, he has mastered building positive relationships with the owners, clients, and engineers we partner and work with.”

John also reflected on the importance of these relationships, saying, “The relationships with our clients, trade partners, and within our own team drive our ability to innovate, deliver complex projects, and further build upon the quality and reputation MEB is known for.”

He has worked on a wide variety of projects for our Richmond office, including the Roanoke Digester Gas Conditioning and RNG Injection project, the James River Water Project, and the Keswick Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements project. Reflecting on this experience, John said, “It’s been rewarding to see MEB grow by earning the trust of our clients and partners, taking on more complex work, and continuing to uphold the high standards that define our reputation.”

Looking ahead to his new role, John shared his excitement about the continued growth of MEB and the opportunity to take on more complex projects. He added, “We have the opportunity to expand our capabilities, strengthen industry relationships, and share our experience to help develop the next generation of professionals.”

David Ervin, MEB President, also commented, “If you ask any of our team, engineers, or previous clients about John, they will always tell you how hard working, thoughtful, and professional he is.” He continued, “Our clients look forward to working with him in the future projects. We’re very happy to see him grow in this new role.”
