MARINE CORPS AIR STATION BEAUFORT

This large project included the construction of two new hydrant fuel facilities and a new bulk fuel farm that provided new, first-class military fueling capabilities for the state of the art F-35 fighter squadrons stationed at MCAS Beaufort. The base is now modernized with the latest in fuel systems technology.

Project Details

This project included the construction of three new pump houses, two 15,000 BBL Bulk Storage Tanks, four 5,000 BBL operating tanks with containment dikes, a new 15,828 LF 10” transfer line which included 2,400 LF of the run installed using a directional bore. The fuel piping included 11,844 LF of hydrant loop supply and return piping, issue and receipt lines to the new tanks, fuel pier modifications including an 8” transfer line from the barge offload and piping to the three 4,000 gal. project recovery tanks. The facility included a new perimeter road, security fencing and storm water structures. Supporting sitework and utilities included cathodic protection system, storm drainage, and water. The three new pumphouses included a bulk transfer pumphouse with three 600 GPM issue pumps and three 600 GPM issue filter separators and two new 3,500 SF hydrant fuel pumphouses. The contract also included the demolition of two existing hydrant systems and a existing bulk storage facilities which included removal of five cut and cover storage tanks, one above ground storage tank, supporting PRT tanks, electrical, fencing, and distribution piping.
