Walker Austin Promoted to Assistant Superintendent!

Please join us in congratulating Walker Austin on his promotion to Assistant Superintendent!

Over the past decade, Walker has built his career at MEB one step at a time. Starting as a laborer, he advanced to pipe fitter, then foreman, and now Assistant Superintendent, a progression that reflects years of hard work, determination, and a willingness to take on new challenges.

Throughout his time with MEB, Walker has played an important role on projects across the Richmond area, gaining experience with everything from small-diameter process piping to large transmission mains, as well as mechanical systems including pumps, blowers, and air systems. One of the most challenging assignments in his career was helping install large gates within a 165-foot tower, where difficult access and multiple installation elevations required careful planning and execution.

One project that stands out to him is the Virgil R. Hazelett Reservoir at Cobbs Creek. Helping establish the project from the ground up and watching it take shape made a lasting impression. He says, “Knowing that our work helped create critical infrastructure that will provide a reliable water supply for years to come gives me a tremendous sense of pride. It was a challenging project that required teamwork, dedication, and problem-solving every step of the way, and being part of that success is something I’ll always value.”

According to his supervisor, Dickie Clark, Project Superintendent, Walker has consistently earned the trust of those around him by stepping up wherever he’s needed. From tackling technically demanding work, including installing 84-inch gates inside a 165-foot tower with limited access, to supporting teammates and helping projects succeed, Walker has become an integral member of MEB’s Richmond operations. “Walker has had tremendous growth over the years, starting out as a laborer and now taking on the role of Assistant Superintendent. He has been a huge asset to the Richmond MEB team and has always been willing to assist others in order to make the job a success.”

As he begins his new role, Walker is looking forward to continuing to grow with the company, mentoring future field leaders, and helping deliver successful projects for years to come.
